What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the information shown in the comment form, as well as the IP address and user agent string of the visitor's browser to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The privacy policy of the Gravatar service is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture will be visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

When uploading images to the website, avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors to the website can download and extract all location data from images on the website.

Contact forms

When visitors fill out our contact form, their email and name will appear in the email sent to the website administrators. This information is only used to reply to your messages and is never shared with anyone else.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site, you can choose to save your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience, so you don't have to re-enter your details the next time you leave a comment. These cookies are stored for one year.

When you visit our login page, we place a temporary cookie to determine whether your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is deleted when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also place a number of cookies to save your login details and your screen choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen selection cookies for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be deleted.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie is stored in your browser. This cookie contains no personal information and only indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may contain embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in exactly the same way as if the visitor had visited the other website.

These third-party websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and track your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking

your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Analytics

We use Zoho analytics to determine how many visitors come to this site, what region of the world they come from and what specific pages they visit.

Who do we share your data with?

For users who register on this website, their personal information such as name and email address is shared with the webmaster and administrators of this site for the purpose of tracking who visits the account page and to send updates and/or an occasional newsletter or other marketing campaigns.

If a visitor submits a request to reset their password, their IP address will be included in the reset email.

How long we keep your data

If a visitor leaves a comment, the comment and its metadata are stored indefinitely. This is so that we can automatically recognize and approve any follow-up comments instead of holding them in a queue for moderation.

For users who register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username).

Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights do you have over your data?

If a visitor has registered on this site, or has left comments, he can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about him, including the data he has provided to us. He may also request that we erase the personal data we hold about him. This does not apply to data that we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal or security purposes.
